सल्फ्यूरिक अम्ल आसानी से पानी के संपर्क में ` H^(+)` आयन मुक्त करता है अतः यह प्रबल अम्ल है । जबकि अमोनियम हाइड्रो-ऑक्साइड में बहुत कम ( `OH^(-)`) आयन होता है अतः यह दुर्बल क्षार है ।
