प्रकाश-संश्लेषण क्रिया में `CO_(2)` का अवशोषण करके जल की सहायता से कार्बोहाइड्रेट का निर्माण किया जाता है अर्थात प्रकाश-संश्लेषण `CO_(2)` के बिना संभव नहीं है और यह भोजन निर्माण के लिए आवश्यक है।
