उस परवलय का समीकरण ज्ञात कीजिए जिसका अक्ष x -अक्ष के समान्तर है तथा जो बिन्दुओ (0,0),(1,1) तथा (2,3) से होकर जाता है |

प्रश्नानुसार ,
परवलय का अक्ष x -अक्ष के समान्तर है |
इसलिय इसका समीकरण
`(y - k)^(2) = 4a(x-h)" ".....(i)`
माना `O = (0,0)" "A=(1,1)," "B= (2,3)`
प्रश्नानुसार , प्रश्नानुसार परवलय (i) उपरोक्त बिन्दुऔ से होकर जाता है , इसलिए
`K^(2) = - 4ah" ".....(ii)`
`" "(1-k)^(2) = 4a(1-h)" ".....(iii)`
व `" "(3-k)^(2) = 4a(2-h)" ".....(iv)`
समीकरण (ii),(iii) व (iv) को हल करने पर
`h = (49)/(24) , k = (7)/(2)` तथा `a = (-3)/(2)`
समीकरण (i) में उपरोक्त सभी मान रखने पर , परवलय का अभीष्ट समीकरण निम्न होगा -
`(y - (7)/(2))^(2) = - 6(x - (49)/(24))`
