अनन्त पर स्थित वस्तु का, 30 सेमी फोकस-दूरी वाले उत्तल लेन्स द्वारा बने प्रतिबिम्ब का आकार 2 सेमी है | यदि उत्तल लेन्स तथा प्रतिबिम्ब के बीच, उत्तल लेन्स से 26 सेमी की दूरी पर, 20 सेमी फोकस-दूरी का एक अवतल लेंस रख दिया जाये, तो प्रतिबिम्ब का नया आकार होगा :

अवतल लेन्स के लिये चित्रानुसार :
`u = + 4` सेमी, `f = -20` सेमी|
`therefore (1)/(v)-(1)/(4) = -(1)/(20)`.
इससे `v = + 5` सेमी| अवतल लेन्स से आवर्धन, `m = (Y_(2))/(Y_(1)) = (v)/(u) = (+5 "सेमी")/(+4"सेमी" ) = 1.25`.
`therefore` प्रतिबिम्ब का आकार, `y_(2) = 1.25 xx y_(1) = 1.25 xx 2` सेमी
= 2.5 सेमी |
