प्रारम्भ में धारा विभान्तर से पश्चगामी है | अतः परिपथ में प्रतिरोध तथा प्रेरकत्व दोनों है | परिपथ में व्यय औसत शक्ति,
`bar P = V_(rms) xx i_(rms) xx cos phi`
परन्तु `i_(rms) = (V_(rms))/(Z)`, जहाँ `Z = sqrt(R^(2) + (omegaL)^(2))` परिपथ की प्रतिबाधा है |
`therefore " "barP = V_(rms) xx (V_(rms))/(Z) xx cos phi`
अथवा `Z = ((V_(rms))^(2) xx cos phi )/(barP) = ((220)^(2) xx 0.8)/(550) = 70.4` ओम
शक्ति गुणांक का मान, `cos phi = (R )/(Z)`
`therefore " " R = Z cosphi = 70.4 xx 0.8 = 56.32` ओम
अब, `Z^(2) = R^(2) + (omegaL)^(2)`
`therefore (omegaL)^(2) = Z^(2) - R^(2) = (70.4)^(2) - (56.32)^(2) = 1784`
अथवा `omegaL = 42.2` ओम
परिपथ में संधारित्र डाल देने पर L-C-R परिपथ की प्रतिबाधा,
`Z = sqrt(R^(2) + (omegaL - (1)/(omegaC))^(2)))`
अतः अब शक्ति गुणांक,
`cos phi = (R )/(Z) = (R)/(sqrt(R^(2)+(omegaL-(1)/(omegaC))^(2)))`
शक्ति गुणांक को 1.0 करने के लिए,
`omegaL = (1)/(omegaC)`
अथवा `C = (1)/(omega xx omegaL)`
परन्तु `omega xx 2pif = 2xx 31.4 xx 50` सेकण्ड`""^(1) = 314` सेकण्ड`""^(1)`
`therefore " " C = (1)/(314 xx 42.2) = 75 xx 10^(-6)` फैरड
= 75 माइक्रोफैरड
