इस विद्यार्थी के लिए 25 cm की दूरी देख पता है | 25 cm पर रखी वस्तु पढ़ जाने के लिए, वस्तु का आभासी प्रतिबिंब 15 cm पर बनना चाहिए | यदि इसके लिए आवश्यक लेंस की फोकस-दूरी `f` हो, तो
सूत्र `(1)/(v)-(1)/(u) =(1)/(f)` से,
यहाँ, `u=-25 cm` तथा `v = -15 cm.`
`therefore (1)/(-15)-(1)/(-25) =(1)/(f)` या `(1)/(f) =(1)/(25) -(1)/(15)=(3-5)/(75)`
या `(1)/(f) =-(2)/(75)` या `f = -(75)/(2) cm.` (अवतल लेंस ) |
अब, यदि इस लेंस की क्षमता P हो, तो
`P = (100)/(f(cm )) =(100)/(-(75)/(2))= (200)/(75) =-(8)/(3)D = -2.67 D.`
अतः, अभीष्ट लेंस की क्षमता `= -2.67 D.`
