कोई वस्तु 15 सेमी. वक्रता त्रिज्या के अवतल दर्पण से 5 सेमी. दूरी पर रखी है, प्रत्येक स्थिति में प्रतिबिम्ब की स्थिति, प्रकृति तथा आवर्धन की गणना कीजिए।

दिया है - R=-15 सेमी, `f=R/2`
`rArr f=(-15)/2=-7.5` सेमी.
दिया है - R=-5 सेमी.
सूत्र - `1/v=1/f-1/u`
=`1/(-7.5)-1/(-5)`
`=1/5-1/7.5`
`1/v=1/15`
v=15 सेमी.
चूँकि v धनात्मक है अतः प्रतिबिम्ब काल्पनिक एवं दर्पण के पीछे बनेगा । आवर्धन `m=-v/u=-15/(-5)`=3
अतः प्रतिबिम्ब आवर्धित , कल्पनिक एवं सीधा होगा ।
