Correct Answer - Option 2 : Rs. 480

Given:

Total wages of Rs. 4,800 are allotted for a piece of work.

E and F together can complete a piece of work in 8 and 10 days respectively.

With the help of G, the work is completed in 4 days.

Concepts used:

Time = Work/Efficiency

1 day work of individual = Work/Time

Calculation:

1 day work of E = 1/8

1 day work of F = 1/10

With the help of G, the work is completed in 4 days.

Let the time taken by G to complete the work alone be x days.

⇒ (1/8) + (1/10) + (1/x) = 1/4

⇒ (9/40) + (1/x) = 1/4

⇒ 1/x = (1/4) – (9/40)

⇒ 1/x = 1/40

⇒ x = 40 days

⇒ Ratio of efficiency of E, F and G = 1/8 ∶ 1/10 ∶ 1/40 = 5 ∶ 4 ∶ 1

Total wages of Rs. 4,800 are allotted for a piece of work.

⇒ Wages paid to G = {1/(5 + 4 + 1)} × Rs. 4,800 = Rs. 480

Wages paid to G are equal to Rs. 480.
