Correct Answer - Option 4 : 200

The Correct Answer is 200.

  • The year 2020 marks the nth year of the famous Oersted’s Experiment, where n is equal to 200.
  • In electromagnetism, the law of Oersted is the physical law that states that a magnetic field is formed by an electric current.
  • The Danish physicist Hans Christian Ørsted (1777-1851) discovered this on 21 April 1820 when he found that the needle of a compass turned next to a wire carrying current so that the needle was perpendicular to the wire.
  • Ørsted investigated the physical law defining the magnetic field, now known as the law of Oersted, and discovered it.
  • The discovery of Oersted was the first relation discovered between electricity and magnetism, and the first of two laws connecting the two; the other is the law of induction of Faraday.

  • By the right-hand law, the orientation of the magnetic field at a point, the direction of the arrowheads on the magnetic field lines, which is the direction in which the "north pole" of the compass needle points, can be found from the current.
  • The fingers will curl around the wire in the direction of the magnetic field if the right hand is wrapped around the wire so that the thumb points in the direction of the current (conventional current, positive charge flow).
