Data communication refers to the transmission of data from one source to a receiver with the help of a transmission media like wire cable. The data can be moved from one point to another through a wired or wireless connection.
While printing a file, the data is transferred from the sender to a printer with the help of a transmission medium.
The printer gets the data and thereafter prints it in the file.
The five components involved in this process are:
- Data: the first component in a data communication network is data or message that needs to be delivered and received.
- Sender: The device that sends the data to the required path or target.
- Receiver: The destination to where the data is transferred.
- Transmission Medium: The physical path that enables the data to travel to its destination.
- Protocol: A set of rules that applies to the full data communication procedure.
