(a) Difference between methanal and methanol is that methanal is methanal, formaldehyde while methanol is methanol. As nouns the difference between methanal and methanol is that methanal is methanal, formaldehyde while methanol is methanol.

(b) Fehling solution is the best chemical test which can be used to distinguish between ethanal and propanone.

This fehling solution is the cupric hydroxide.

When you add this to any like the ethanal, the aldehyde available in the compound gets oxidized to the identical acid.

As a result of this, cuprous oxide gets formed. For the ketone like propanone, it does not reveal this reaction.

(c) Iodoform chemical tests for the Pentan-2-one and pentan-3-one will distinguish the chemical compounds in the right way.

During the Iodoform chemical testing, a chemical compound will react only if it is a methyl ketone.

On that note, the iodoform testing results will show you Pentan-2-one is a methyl ketone and it responds to the chemical testing.

But, pentan-3-one is not a methyl ketone and it never responds to the iodoform test.
