In Fig.,△AHK is similar to △ABC.If AK = 10 cm, BC = 3.5 cm and HK = 7 cm, find AC.

Given 

ΔAHK ~ ΔABC, AK = 10 cm, 

BC = 3.5 cm and HK = 7 cm. 

We know that two triangles are similar if their corresponding sides are proportional.

⇒ \(\frac{AC}{AK}\) = \(\frac{BC}{HK}\)

⇒ \(\frac{AC}{10}\) = \(\frac{3.5}{7}\)

∴ AC = 5 cm
