The areas of two similar triangles are 81cm2 and 49 cm2 respectively. If the altitude of the first triangle is 6.3 cm, find the corresponding altitude of the other.

Let the corresponding altitude of second triangle is x cm.

We know that the ratio of areas of similar triangles is proportional to the square of the ratio of their corresponding altitudes (sides).

Hence, the corresponding altitude of the other (second) triangle is 4.9 cm.
