In ∆ABC, DE║BC so that AD = 2.4cm, AE = 3.2cm and EC = 4.8cm. Then, AB = ?

It is given that DE || BC. 

Applying basic proportionality theorem, we have: 

AD/BD = AE/ EC 

⇒ 2.4/BD = 3.2/4.8

⇒  BD = 2.4×4.8/3.2 = 3.6 cm 

Therefore, AB = AD + BD = 2.4 + 3.6 = 6 cm
