Non-metal with electronic configuration 2, 8, 6 is sulphur. Corresponding ous and ic acids of sulphur are `H_(2)SO_(3) "and" H_(2)SO_(4)` respectively.
`H_(2)SO_(4)` is diluted by adding acid to water with continous stirring because addition of water to acid is associated with liberation of large amount of heat at a time which may lead to violent and explosive reaction.
