The formula for calculating the acceleration sue to gravity is :
`g=Gx(M)/R^(2)`
Here Gavitational constant `G=6.7xx10^(-11)Nm^(2)/kg^(2)` ltbr gt Mass of the moon `M=7.4xx10^(22)`kg
Radius of the moon ,R=1740km `=1740xx1000 m`
`1.74xx10^(6)`m Now Putting these values of G,M and R in the above fromula we get
`g=(67.xx10^(-11)xx7.4xx10^(22))/(1.74xx10^(6))^(2)`
`g=1.63 m//s^(2)`
Thus the acceleration due to gravity ,g,on the sufrace of the moon is 1.63 `m/s^(2)`
image Please note that the value of g on the moon is about one-sixth (1/6) of the value of g on the earth (the value of acceleration due to gravity on the earth being 9.8 `m//s^(2)`
