Proxima and distal convoluted tubules are located in renal cortex. Convoluted means the tubules one tightly coiled. Proximal convoluted tubules are associated with the reabsorption of filtered water, Na⁺, K⁺. glucose, amino acid, Cl⁻, HCO₃⁻, Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺ and secretion of H⁺, NH⁺₄, urea whereas distal convoluted tubules are associated with reabsorption of water, Na⁺, Cl⁻ and Ca²⁺.
