The ampere is defined as that current which, if maintained in two straight parallel conductors of infinite length, of negligible circular cross-section, and placed 1 meter apart in a vacuum, would produce between these conductor a force of 2 × 10-7 Newton per meter of length.

 An ampere is a unit of measure of the rate of electron flow or current in an electrical conductor.

1 ampere is defined as 1 coulomb of charge per second.
