Hibernation is the winter sleep seen in cold-blooded animals in polar regions in which they suspend their metabolic activities when external temperature becomes unfavourable. Whereas, diapause is the phenomenon seen in insects during their developmental stages, in which metabolic activities are suspended due to unfavourable conditions.
