The F2 progeny of a monohybrid cross showed phenotypic and genotypic ratio as 1 : 2 : 1, unlike that of Mendel’s monohybrid F2 ratio. With the help of a suitable example, work out a cross and explain how it is possible.

This kind of cross is observed in Mirabilis jalapa/Four o’clock plant/Antirrhinum majus.

Monohybrid cross in snapdragon, where one allele is incompletely dominant over the other allele 

In heterozygous condition a single dominant gene is not sufficient to produce red colour therefore it is a case of incomplete dominance.
