एक धातु के गोले का व्यास 6 सेमी है । गोले को पिघलाकर एक समान आकार का तार बनाया गया है । यदि तार की लम्बाई 36 सेमी है तो तार की त्रिज्या ज्ञात कीजिए ।

स्पष्ट है कि, धातुई गोले का 6 व्यास सेमी है । तब त्रिज्या `=6/2=3` सेमी
चूँकि गोले का आयतन `(V)=4/3 pi r^(3)=4/3xx pi xx3^(3) "सेमी"^(3)=36 pi " सेमी"^(3)`
माना r परिच्छेद तार की त्रिज्या तथा दिये गये तार की लम्बाई 36 सेमी है ।
इसलिए तार का आयतन `(V)= pi r^(2)h=(pi r^(2)xx 3600) "सेमी"^(3)`
यदि धातुई गोले को बेलनाकार तार के रूप में बदल दिया जाये तब
तार का आयतन = गोले का आयतन
`rArr pi r^(2)xx3600=36 pi`
`rArr r^(2)=(36 pi)/(3600 pi ) = 1/100 rArr r=(1)/(10)`सेमी = 1 मिमी
