दिया है : `4x^(2) + 9y^(2) - 8x - 36y + 4 = 0`
`rArr 4x^(2) - 8x + 4 + 9y^(2) - 36y + 36 = 36`
`rArr 4(x^(2) - 2x + 1) + 9(y^(2) - 4y + 4) = 36`
`(4(x-1)^(2))/(36) + (9(y-2)^(2))/(36) =1`
`rArr ((x-1)^(2))/(9) + ((y-2)^(2))/(4) =1`
जो कि एक दीर्घवृत्त का समीकरण है, इसकी तुलना दीर्घवृत्त के मानक समीकरण `(x^(2))/(a^(2)) + (y^(2))/(b^(2)) = 1` से करने पर
`a^(2) = 9` तथा `b^(2) = 4`
सूत्र `b^(2) = a^(2)(1-e^(2))` से
`4 = 9(1-e^(2))`
`rArr (4)/(9) = 1-e^(2) rArr e = (sqrt(5))/(3)`
`therefore` नियताओं के समीकरण, `x = pm (a)/(e) = pm(3)/(sqrt(5)//3) = pm (9)/(sqrt(5))`
नाभियाँ `= (pmae, 0) = (pm(3sqrt(5))/(3),0) = (pm(sqrt(5),0)`
तथा नाभिलम्ब `= (2b^(2))/(a) = ( 2xx 4)/(3) = (8)/(3)`
