मान लीजिए दिए गए तीन बिंदु A(0,0),B(1,2) तथा C(a,-1) है, तब
AB की ढाल `xxBC` की ढाल =-1
`(2-0)/(1-0)xx(-1-2)/(a-1)=-1`
`(2)/(1)xx(-3)/(a-1)=-1`
`(-6)/(a-1)=-1`
`-a+1=-6`
`a-1=6`
`a=6+1=7`.
