रेखा का समीकरण ज्ञात कीजिए जिसकी मूल बिन्दु से लाम्बिक दुरी 4 इकाई और धन x - अक्ष तथा लांब के बीच कोण `15 ^(@)` है ।

और `" "`लाम्बिक दुरी ,`p=4` इकाई
लम्ब रेखा समीकरण , ,
`x cos alpha + y sin alpha =p`
`therefore " " x cos 15 ^(@)+ y sin 15^(@)=4`
अब `cos 15^(@)=cos (45^(@)- 30^(@))`
`=(1)/(sqrt(2))xx(sqrt(3))/(2)+(1)/(sqrt(2))xx(1)/(2)=(sqrt(3)+1)/(2sqrt(2))`
इसी प्रकार `sin 15^(@)=(sqrt(3)-1)/(2sqrt(2))`
समीकरण (i ) में `cos 15 ^(@)` तथा `sin 15 ^(@)` के मान रखने पर ,
`x xx(sqrt(3)+1)/(2sqrt(2))+yx(sqrt(3)-1)/(2sqrt(2))=4`
`(sqrt(3)+1)x+(sqrt(3)-1)y=8sqrt(2).`
