AB × AC = AD2

AB = 4cm

AC = AB + BC = 4 + 6 = 10cm

4 × 10 = AD2

∴ AD = √40

In order to draw √12 , draw AC = 6cm by taking BC = 4 cm and AB = 2 cm.

When a tangent is drawn from A, its length is √12 cm.
