The adrenal medulla secretes two catecholamine hormoens -(i) Adrenaline (epinephrine) and (ii) Noradrenaline (norepinephrine). They reinforce the role of sympathetic nervous system. They act in emergency to whip up metabolism by increasing heart beat, blood pressure, respiratory rate, etc.
