Functions of the parts :
(a) Gall bladder. It is thin walled sac which stores bile juice secreted by the liver. Bile juice helps in the emulsification of fats.
(b) Epiglottis. It prevents the entry of food into the wind pipe during swallowing in mammals.
(c ) Pyloric sphincter. It allows passage of partly digested food ffrom stomach to the duodenum.
Vermiform appendix. Its functions in man is unknown as it is a vestigial organ.
(e ) Oesophagus. It serves for the passage of food by peristaltic movements from pharynx into the stomach.
