(ii) HCOOK is a salt of weak acid HCOOH and strong base KOH. In aqueous solution it undergoes hydrolysis giving weak acid and strong base KOH which dissociates completely,

\(\therefore\) [OH-] > [H3O+], and the solution reacts basic.
