Acetylene is very weak acid. The value of dissociation constant `K_(a)` is very low `(10^(-25))`. Thus, it does not react with alkalies like `NaOH` or KOH, but react with very strong base like sodamide `(NaNH_(2))`, active metals like Na,K.
