In `AlCl_(3), Al` has only six electrons in its valence shell, thus it behaves as an electron-deficient compound. To complete its octet. `Al` needs two more electrons. To do so, it accepts a pair of electron from `Cl` atom of another `AlCl_(3)` molecule. As a result, it exists as a dimer.
