The statement is not always true. In symmetrical `(BF_(3),C Cl_(4),CH_(4))` and linear `(CO_(2),BeF_(2))` molecules, the polarities of the bonds cancel out and these molecules have zero dipole moments. Only unsymmetricaland non-linear molecules have dipole moments.
