Consider the adjacent diagram , in which forces are resolved .
On resolving forces into rectangular components , in equilibrium forces `(F_(1) + (1)/(sqrt2))` N are equal to `sqrt2` N and `F_(2)` is equal to `(sqrt2 + (1)/(sqrt2))N`.
`therefore " " F_(1) + (1)/(sqrt2) = sqrt2`
`F_(1) = sqrt2 - (1)/(sqrt2) = (2-1)/(sqrt2) = (1)/(sqrt2) = 0.707`N
and `" " F_(2) = sqrt2 + (1)/(sqrt2) = (2+1)/(sqrt2) N = (3)/(sqrt2) N = 2.121N`
