During propagation of a plane progressive mechanical wave, like shown in the diagram, amplitude of all the particels is equal.
(i) Clearly, the paticles O,A and B are having different phase.
(ii) Particels of the wave shown in the figure are having up and down SHM.
(iii) For a progressive wave propagating in a fluid .
Speed `=v=sqrt((B)/(rho))`
Hence ` vpropsqrt((1)/(rho))" "` [ `:.` B is constant ]
As `rho` depends upon nature of the medim , hecne v also depnds upo the nature of the medium.
