एक डोरी में प्रगामी तरंग का समीकरण `y 5 sin pi (100 t - 0.002x)` है । y तथा x सेमी में तथा t सेकण्ड में व्यक्त किये गये हैं । ज्ञात कीजिये -

डोरी में प्रगामी तरंग की समीकरण
`y = 5 sin pi (100t - 0.002 x)`
प्रगामी तरंग की मानक समीकरण
`y = A sin (omegat - kx)`
तुलना करने पर, `A = 5` सेमी, `omega = 100pi` रेडियन/सेकण्ड,
`k = 0.002pi` रेडियन/सेमी
(a) तरंग का आयाम `A = 5` सेमी = 0.05 मीटर
(b) आवृत्ति `f = (omega)/(2pi) = (100pi)/(2pi) = 50 "सेकण्ड"^(-1)`
(c ) तरंग-दैर्ध्य `lambda = (2pi)/(k) = (2pi)/(0.002pi) = 1000` सेमी `= 10` मीटर
(d) चाल `upsilon = flambda = 50 xx 10 = 500` मीटर/सेकण्ड
