In a vernier callipers, n divisions of its main scale match with (n+1) divisions on its vernier scale. Each division of the main scale is a units. Using the vernier principle, calculate its least count.

Correct Answer - `(a)/(n+1)`
Least count = 1 MSD - 1 VSD
Here `n(MSD) = (n+1)(VSD) rArr 1 VSD = (na)/(n+1)`
`rArr` Least count `= a- (na)/(n+1)=(a)/(n+1)`
