किसी गैस का प्रारम्भिमक ताप `-73^(@)C` है। इसे कि ताप तक गर्म करना चाहिये जिससे
(A) गैस के अणुओं का वर्ग मूल वेग दोगुना हो जाये।
(B)अणुओं की औसत गतिज ऊर्जा दोगुनी हो जाये।

गैस का प्रारम्भि2क ताप `T_(1)=-73+743=200K`
(A) `v_(rms) prop sqrt(T)` अथवा `((v_(rms))_(1))/((v_(rms))_(2))=sqrt((T_(1))/(T_(2)))`
माना `T_(2)` ताप पर वर्ग माध्य मूल चाल दोगुनी हो जायेगी । अतः
`=1/2=sqrt(200/(T_(2)))`
`1/4=200/(T_(2))`
अथवा `T_(2)=800K =(800-273)^(@)C=527^(@)C`
(B) `E prop T` अतः `(E_(1))/(E_(2))=(T_(1))/(T_(2))`
माना `T_(2)` ताप पर अणुओं की औसत गतिज ऊर्जा दोगुनी हो जायेगी।
`:.1/2=200/(T_(2))`
`:.T_(2)=400K=(400-273)^(@)C=127^(@)C`
