Set A has m distinct elements and set B has n distinct elements. Then how many different mappings from set A to set B can be formed?

Since each element(preimage) in set A can corresponds to any one of the n elements (images) in set B, the number of mappings can be formed is `n xx n xx n … m" times "=n^(m)`.
