Correct Answer - B
Lime water become turbid on passing `CO_(2)` into it because both reacts to produce insoluble calcium carbonate.
`underset("Lime water")(Ca(OH)_(2))+CO_(2)to underset("Calcium carbonate (Insoluble)")(CaCO_(3))+H_(2)O`
If more `CO_(2)` is passed then soluble calcium bicarbonate is formed which clear the solution
`underset("Insoluble")(CaCO_(3))+H_(2)O+CO_(2) to underset("Calcium bicarbonate (soluble)")(Ca(HCO_(3))_(2)`
The reason that lime water is `Ca(OH)_(2)` is also correct. Here, both assertion and reason are correct but reason is not a correct explanation of assertion.
