In the first transition series,Mn has abnormally low melting point. This is due to the fact that Mn has exactly half-filled d-orbitals.As a result, electronic configuration is very stable, i.e., electrons areheldtightly by the nucleus so that the delocatization is less and the metallic bond is much weaker than the elements on its either side.
