Acid-catalysed reaction undergoes by `SN^(1)` ring opening to form carbocation which is stable due to +I effect of (Me) group. Nucleophile `(MeOH)` attacks at the more substitued C atom. Base-catalysed reaction preoceeds by `SN^(2)`, involving the attack of `(MeOH)` at less substituted C atom.
