Boric acid in the form of dilute aqueous solutions is a mild antiseptic and is used as an eye lotion, mouthwash and skin lotion. It is also used as an ointment for wounds. Hydrogen peroxide is also used as a mild antiseptic under the name perhydrol for washing wounds, teeth and ears.
