Directions- Each of these questions contains two statements: Statement 1 (Assertion) and Statement II (Reason). Each of these questions also has four alternative choices, only one of which is the correct answer. You have to select one of the codes (a), (b), (c), and (d) given below.

(a) Statement I is false, Statement II is true

(b) Statement I is true, Statement II is true; Statement II is a correct explanation for Statement I

(c) Statement I is true, Statement II is true; Statement II is not a correct explanation for Statement I

(d) Statement i is true, Statement II is false

Statement I The degree of the differential equation

d2y/dx2 + dy/dx = log(d2y/dx2)

Statement II The degree of the differential equation which can be written as polynomial in the derivatives is the degree of the derivative of the highest order occuring in it.

Best answer

Correct Option (a) Statement I is false, Statement II is true

Explanation:

Since, the given equation cannot be written as a polynomial in all the differential coefficients. So, degree of equation is not defined.

Hence, Statement I is false and Statement ll is true.
