Addiction is a psychological attachment to certain effects such as euphoria and temporary feeling of wellbeing associated with prolonged use of drugs and alcohol.
With repeated use of drugs/alcohol, the tolerance level of the receptors in our body increases and consequently they respond only to high does of drugs/alcohol. It leads to dependence of the body upon them which may be psychological or physical.
