माना मूलबिन्दु O के सापेक्ष बिन्दुओं A, B, C के स्थिति-सदिश क्रमशः `2hati+3hatj+4hatk, hati-3hatj+5hatk` तथा `-9hatj+6hatk` है।
`therefore vec(OA)=2hati+3hatj+4hatk`,
`vec(OB)=hati-3hatj+5hatk, vec(OC)=-9hatj+6hatk`
`vec(AB)=vec(OB)-vec(OA)`
`=(hati-3hatj+5hatk)-(2hati+3hatj+4hatk)=-hati-6hatj+hatk`
तथा `vec(AC)=vec(OC)-vec(OA)`
`=(-9hatj+6hatk)-(2hati+3hatj+4hatk)=-2hati-12hatj+2hatk`
`=2(-hati-6hatj+hatk)=2vec(AB)`
`vec(AC)=2vec(AB)impliesvec(AC)=lambdavec(AB)`
जहाँ `lambda = 2`
`because` सदिश `vec(AC)` तथा `vec(AB)` समरेख (समान्तर) है, जोकि केवल तभी संभव हो सकता है जब तीनो बिन्दु A, B, C एक ही रेखा में स्थिति है।
अतः बिन्दु A, B, C समरेखीय है।
