सिद्ध कीजिए की रेखा `vecr=(2hati-2hatj+3hatk)+lambda(hati-hatj+4hatk)` समतल `vecr.(hati+5hatj+hatk)=5` के समान्तर है। दी गयी रेखा तथा दिये गये समतल के बीच की दुरी भी ज्ञात कीजिए ।

समतल का समीकरण `vecr.(hati+5hatj+hatk)=5 " "...(1)`
रेखा का समाकरण `vecr=(2hati-2hatj+3hatk)+lambda(hati-hatj+4hatk) " "...(2)`
दी गयी समीकरणों की `vecc.vecn=d` तथा `vecr=veca+lambda vecb` से तुलना करने पर
`veca=(2hati-2hatj+3hatk),vecb=(hati-hatj+4hatk)`
`vecn=(hati+5hatj+hatk)` तथा `d=5`
दिया है रेखा `vecr=veca+lambdavecb` समतल `vecr * vecn =d` के समान्तर है ।
जबकि `vecb*vecn=0`
यहाँ `vecb*vecn =(hati-hatj+4hatk)*(hati+5hatj+hatk)`
`=(1xx1)+(-1)xx5+4xx1=0`
रेखा तथा समतल के बीच की दुरी
`=(|veca*vecn-d|)/(|vecn|)=(|(2hati-2hatj+3hatk)*(hati+5hatj+hatk)-5|)/(|hati+5hati+hatk|)`
`=(|(2xx1)+(-2)xx5+(3xx1)-5|)/(sqrt(1^(2)+5^(2)+1^(2)))`
`=(|2-10+3-5)/(sqrt(27))=(10)/(3sqrt(3))` इकाई
