Characteristic features of insect-pollinated flowers :
The insect pollination flowers are called as entomophilous flowers and the phenomenon is called as entomophilous flowers and the phenomenon is called as entomophily.
The main characteristics of insect pollination are :
(i) The flowers are brightly coloured showing and large and if small they become conspicuous by grouping as in capitulum and umbel etc.
(ii) The flowers are sweetly scented so as to attract the insects for Pollination.
(iii) The flowers have nectar-secreting glands which secrete abundant nectar which attract the pollinating insects.
(iv) flowers may have edible pollen e.g., rosa and clematis.
(v) The flowers have stamens and stigma inserted.
(vi) The flowers Possesses pollen kit an yellowish sticky substance.
