`Phoverset(+)(N)-=N` is a weak electrophile that undergoes diazocoupling only with rings activated by -OH, -`NH_(2)`, -NHR or `NR_(2)`. The ring is not sufficiently activated by `-OCH_(3)` and hence, anisole does not form azodye.
