Amajor breakthrough in the studies of cells came with the development of electron microscope. This is because

Explanation:

The resolution power of the electron microscope rs much higher than that of the light microscope.

As an average the resolving power of a light microscope is 0.25 μm-0.3 gm while that of electron microscope is 2-10 Å though theoritically, it is 0.25 Å  The magnification range of light microscope is 2000-4000 while of electron microscope is 100000-300000.
