A voltage `V_0sinomegat` is applied to a series LCR circuit, Derive the expression for the average power dissipated over a cycle.
Under what condition is (i) no power dissipated even though the current flows through the circuit,(ii) maximum power dissipated in the circuit?

(i) No power is dissipated if the pure resistance R in the circuit is zero.
(ii) Maximum power is dissipated if the inductive and capacitative reactances cancel each other i.e., when the circuit impedance becomes equal to the pure resistance of the circuit (Z=R).
