In JJ Thomson experiment the potential difference of 320 V is accelerating the electron. The electron beam is entering a region having uniform magnetic field 6 x 10-5 T acting perpendicular to it. Find the value of electric field in this region so that the electron does not experience any deflection.( Taken me = 9.1 x 10-31 kg)

(a) 6.4 V/m

(b) 64 V/m

(c) 640 V/m

The correct option is (b) 64 V/m.

Explanation:

Electric potential energy = Kinetic energy

After substituting these values, we get

E = 640 V/m
